Ways to Get Involved!

  1. Attend a Maine, Penobscot County, or Brewer Democratic Party event. From now until election day there will be plenty of events happening in the Brewer area. This web site will attempt to post any events in the Brewer area. The Penobscot County Democratic Committee web site and the Maine Democratic Party web site are two other excellent resources. Also, bring a friend!
  2. Write a letter to the editor of the Bangor Daily News. This is a great way to let your neighbors and friends know how you feel about a candidate or an issue.

Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number with your letter to the editor. If not, the BDN may not publish it.

A very nice site that will help you write an effective letter to the editor is PriNews.com. Check it out. It is an excellent resource. They also have links to over 1,000 publications to submit your letter.

The Maine Democratic Party has tips on writing effective letters to the editor.

  3. Volunteer for a Campaign. All of the campaigns need your help. Contact the candidate, visit the campaign office, or call the office. There will be an office in Bangor very soon and we will post the contact information once it is available. The Maine Democratic Party web site has volunteer opportunities.
  4. Donate money to a campaign.
  5. Donate money to the Democratic Party. The money can help candiates throughout Maine and the rest of the country. You can make donations to the Democratic National Committee and the Maine Democratic Party online.
  6. Get an Absentee Ballot. If you or someone else you know will not be around on election day, you can still vote. Call the City Clerk's Office (phone 989-7050), to apply for an Absentee Ballot. You can find information about the absentee ballot process from the Secretary of State Office web site.
  7. Talk to neighbors, friends, and family. Share your views and concerns with people close to you.
  8. Put up a lawn sign, wear a button, and put a bumper sticker on your car. Let the world see you are proud to be a Democrat!
  9. VOTE!
